Brief Timeline Of the Band
- 1975 - Pasadena Municipal Band formed, sponsored by City of Pasadena
parks and recreation department. Fred Baeke was first director.
We think the first rehearsals were held at San Jacinto Community College
- 1976 - Bob Zwick becomes director
- ???? - rehearsals moved to Pasadena High School
- 1988 - rehearsals moved to Golden Acres Recreation Center - Pasadena
- 1993 - rehearsals moved to Houston Baptist University (now Houston
Christian University)
- 1993 - city of Pasadena announces it will no longer sponser the band.
Band members work to make a 501C3 and Pasadena Municipal Band, INC is
formed.
- 1994 - city of Pasadena disallows use of Pasadena Municipal Band name.
Gulf Coast Community Concerts, Inc is formed with subsidiary Gulf
Coast Concert Band
- 1995 - Bob Zwick resigns. Band has interim directors for about 1 year.
- 1996 - Ben Butler becomes director
- 2003 - rehearsals moved to Lutheran High North (later called Lutheran Academy
North)
- 2024 - rehearsals moved to Immanuel Lutheran as the school as closed and building sold
The band will forever be indebted to Charlie and Susan Jacobs, Kathy
Hanna and Ed Mabry for their tireless efforts to transition the band
from Pasadena Munical Band to its own 501C3. We are also
indebted to David & Judy Ford and Dr. Grady Hallman and the many
who helped the band financially in its early years.
Band Milestones
- 1986 - Played for the Association of Concert Bands convention
in downtown Houston
- 1991 - Played for the Texas Bandmasters Association convention
in San Antonio
- 1994-1999 - Accompanied the SW Jazz Ballet Company in a weekend
performance at Miller Outdoor Theater
- 2014 - Played at the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and
Universities) conference in Atlanta, GA
- 2014 - Played at Jones Hall as part of the Houston Symphony
